Douglas L. Henzlik
Doug grew up in Leawood, KS and attended the University of Kansas where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, and a member of the KU basketball team, playing in the 1986 Final Four Tournament.
He began his career in the commercial brokerage business in 1989 with Leo Eisenberg in Charleston, SC. In 1993, Doug started a branch office in Charleston, SC for JDN, the largest developer of Wal-Marts in the mid 1990’s and one of the largest strip center REIT’s in the Country, with an average 115 properties in its portfolio.
In 1997, Doug and Tyler Oliver formed Henzlik-Oliver Real Estate where they focused on tenant representation, value-add and build to suit development deals for National retailers. Henzlik-Oliver enjoyed a prosperous partnership and friendship that has lasted over 18 years.
Today, Doug continues his tradition of innovation and success with renewed focus on value-add and build to suit developments. He has acquired, developed or redeveloped, both independently and through his partnerships, over 3-million square feet of retail. He has worked with well-known national brands such as: The Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Tractor Supply Company, Buffalo Wild Wings, Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy, Mattress Firm, Staples, AT&T, Food Lion, AWG Grocery Stores, O’Reilly Automotive, and AutoZone.
Doug and his wife, Leslie, have been married for 25 years, have one son and two daughters, and live in Stilwell, KS. Doug also has two brothers; an older brother who is also in the real estate business and a younger brother with Down’s Syndrome who works at Dillion’s Grocery Stores. Doug has always placed “Christ” first in his life and has grown up in the Church. His love for kids, Christ and the game of basketball led him to starting Rise Above, a 501c3 organization that will focus on discipling coaches to become mentors to basketball players of all ages.
Jody Stringer
Jody started her real estate career as an administrative assistant with AREA Real Estate Advisors, (formerly RED Brokerage), where her thorough preparation and attention to detail soon proved invaluable. She swiftly moved up the ranks – eventually becoming the Vice President of Administration and Operations. While at AREA, Jody created and implemented a new financial business plan, increasing the company’s profits by 46% after one year. Jody enjoys a hands-on leadership role that allows her to oversee the companies’ day-to-day operations as their Controller.
Jody embodies both companies’ passion for providing excellent service – not just to their clients and investors, but to everyone she encounters. Jody streamlines the regular processes and procedures and offers customized solutions and guidance in all facets of operations. Serving as point guard for the development process, Jody orchestrates the interplay between finance, leasing and construction. Jody’s direct work with the companies’ founder fostered her proficiency in all industry segments, and provided an unrivaled ability to understand multiple and often competing goals to achieve a win-win outcome for all involved.
Jeff Berg
Jeff is a Kansas City native. He is a proud graduate of the University of Michigan (GO BLUE!) and then attended the Columbia University School of Law in New York, where he graduated with high honors in 1989. Jeff returned to Kansas City and first practiced as a real estate attorney with Kansas City’s largest law firm, and then with Applebee’s International. Applebee’s became Jeff’s first client he switched to the transactional side of the business in 1995 — which helped spur his retail focus.
Since that time, Jeff has represented many of the nation’s and region’s retailers execute their real estate strategy in Kansas City and other Midwest markets. He is honored to work with national retailers such as Dick’s Sporting Goods, Costco, Target, Petsmart, At Home, Chase Bank and Chick fil A.
Through his career, Jeff has been particularly driven by the challenges and opportunities to acquire and improve existing commercial properties, along with the dynamics of developing new projects. Jeff was a partner in the $63.5M acquisition of three iconic Kansas City-area shopping centers (featured as a Wall Street Journal Deal of the Week), and the subsequent transformation that was extremely well received by tenants, residents and shoppers. Jeff has also acquired and developed investment properties with partners and clients, including retail, mixed use, and multi-family projects.
Jeff is married to another Kansas City native, Jamie. Together than have a son and daughter – both high school students — and two Labrador retrievers. Jeff is a car buff, enjoys both cooking and eating great meals, and then somewhat enjoys swimming to burn off the calories from those meals.
